Today, the students used Quikmaps to plot the routes of some famous explorers.
Quikmaps allows users to draw on Google Maps. The embedding features are nice. You can easily resize the embedded map and select its starting focus.
Furthermore, it is not necessary to create an account.

Last term my students created voicethreads documenting interviews they did with elders in their families to find out how each student's family got to live where they live - basically we were tracking population in Chateauguay and Kahnawake. I may use this as a follow-up, to put all of their research together and visualize where we all came from.
